About LRC Membership
Membership in the Logan Race Club sets us apart from the cycling individuals riding alone. Although, there is nothing wrong with riding alone, many of us really enjoy riding with a community. Without the Logan Race Club, a big group ride might consist of ten people. With the club we have the ability to organize rides, meet, ride together, race together, get group discounts, promote cycling in Cache Valley, wrangle a bike rodeo here and there, and make new friends to name a few benefits of membership.
Creating successful membership policy for a club as diverse as ours is not easy, so we have set out to accomplish this under the framework of a clearer definition of what Logan Race Club membership means. One recurring theme of our discussions was that club membership means club involvement and participation. Towards this end we have made policy decisions that will promote a spirit of volunteerism as well as mitigate any potential abuses of membership privileges.

Club rides and Time-Trial Series
Perhaps the most recognized and enjoyable of club benefits is our club rides and time-trial series. Along with the mainstay world-famous Tuesday Night Ride (TNR) and Thursday Night Time Trial (TT) Series, we are continuing with Wednesday Women's Group Ride and the Saturday Morning Group Ride.
Race-Fee Reimbursement
At the end of the year, depending on available the funds, the club will reimburse some race fees paid by eligible club members. The total amount that will be reimbursed to eligible members will be decided by the club leadership at the end of the season. Club members are eligible for race-fee reimbursements by meeting the following conditions:
- Rider must be an LRC member in good standing.
- Rider must COMPLETE 4 qualifying road events as an LRC member. Qualifying events includes all a UCA Calendar races and Cache Valley events such as the MS150, Cache Valley Century, Mendon Massacre, Cache Valley Biathlon.
- Rider must accumulate a minimum of 3 volunteer hours.
- Rider must wear LRC clothing at qualifying events.
Local Bike Shop (LBS) discounts
To pro-actively meet the club's growing interests, tastes, and affiliations, the club has been opened up to the support and involvement of all valley LBSs. This was a difficult decision at the time, but one that has since borne wonderful fruit in terms of expanding and improving club relations and our sport in Cache Valley in general. This year, we have received indication from Al's and Wimmer's that club members will continue to receive the same great preferential treatment.
Pro Deals
The Elite Team promotes the club's excellence in racing and in its grass-roots programs heavily to bicycle industry. As a consequence of this effort, it often receives sponsorships that include special pricing on cycling products. From time-to-time, sponsors will allow the Elite Team extend these special offers onto the whole club. When these opportunities come up, the Elite Team will announce the sponsorship and special offer on the club's listserv.
These pro-deals are a result of the hard "legwork" of the Elite Team and will be offered through various valley's local bike shop. The purpose of these offers are to spread the benefit of the pro-deals offered by these generous companies to club member and local bike shops. Product purchased through these one-time special orders is for personal use only and not for resale. Any abuse of this generosity would permanently damage the club's relationship with its sponsors.

Volunteer Hours: An explanation
A central theme of our club is involvement and participation. Our intent is to make certain that those club members who invest themselves in growing the club and our sport are recognized, and feel that the requirements for volunteering time to the club are reasonable, especially in light of the numerous benefits that have been secured for each member. Volunteer hours may be accrued in the following forms:
- TT Series: volunteering to time or hold riders at the starts
- Bear Lake Cache Classic: volunteering for course marshalling, course set up or tear down, or any other legwork.
- Little Mountain Road Race: volunteering for planning, course marshalling, course set up or tear down, or any other legwork.
- Any other club sponsored (or supported) road or mountain bike race
- Club programs or events: volunteering to spearhead programs or initiatives such as leading Women's Group Rides, organizing or presenting skill clinics, putting together an MS150 team just to name a few.
- Website: volunteering to maintain and update website pages with race results, TT times, and pictures.
As you can see getting involved is pretty easy, but moreover, it is truly the essence of our club and cycling community. It is how the love for our sport is shared not only amongst us but also to those in each member's circle of friends and influence.
Helping Out
The club leadership is changing, and if you would like to be involved in where the club is going, get involved now. There are many opportunities for you to lend a helping hand, just contact Greg, John, Kirk, or Lance and let us know what you would like to do. We are trying to come up with more frequent get-togethers for the club including scheduled parties with "pre event" rides. John will be releasing information regarding these soon.
